Vicki Scroggs is in urgent need of a new kidney.
Vicki is married with three grown children and seven grandchildren under the age of 11; she has a family who loves her and they are desperate to help her but we cannot do it without your assistance.
As a teenager, Vicki found out that she had polycystic kidney disease; however, the disease did not become evident until 2014, when the use of a strong antibiotic further weakened her kidneys. There is no cure for PKD. As such,Vicki began dialysis care in 2016 with Stage 4 Renal Disease and requires two weekly treatments. Each treatment, lasting three and a half hours, drains her of her energy and leaves her too exhausted to do many normal physical activities. As a result, she cannot currently hold a full-time job.
Time is ticking away and Vicki, and her family, are requesting your assistance for her transplant fund. Her family and friends are more than willing to help but the out-of-pocket donor costs and Vicki’s post-transplant medical costs will require additional funding.
Vicki has health insurance to pay for her transplant and is registered with a transplant center. In the event a prospective donor match is made, Vicki will need financial assistance to pay for transport and other out-of-pocket expenses for that donor. In addition, as a transplant patient, Vicki will require post-transplant care that includes anti-rejection medications and rehabilitation costing approximately $3,500 per 3 months – for life.
We would like to thank you for your consideration and welcome any donation to Vicki’s GoFundMe Transplant Fund. Your generosity will help Vicki reach her kidney transplant goals. If you are unable to donate, we hope that you will please consider sharing this fundraiser so that it may reach a broader audience; if we’re lucky, we may even find a willing donor!
Prospective Kidney Donors: Just in case you might be a potential donor, Vicki’s blood type is O-negative, meaning her body can only accept a transplanted kidney from a donor with an O blood type.
