Vicki Price kicks the Blues

Donation protected

For anyone that has witnessed the force that is Vicki and Joe Price on stage, it is understood that they know the blues - they play the blues - they are the blues. Vicki and Joe are the real deal, with decades of defining what it means to be true working musicians - from the big lights of festival stages to the dark corners of juke joints from coast to coast. If you heard the signature Vicki & Joe romp and stride of slide guitars and blue story vocals rolling out of a midwestern tavern door on a below zero night - you'd likely stop on a dime, throw your jacket on a pile at the door, and hit the worn bar floor without hesitation. Few musicians know what it means to play a true "bar set" anymore, and 3 hours into a night of blues with Vicki and Joe is just break time - "Have Mercy!"

As would have it - decades of successful self employment, thousands of shows criss crossing the country, and consistently putting out beautifully gritty records does not make a blues (wo)man a fortune. 2020 has been a year of unthinkable circumstances for musicians and entertainers of every stripe - but to throw a medical emergency in the mix is even too much for the most honed blues-makers.

Earlier in 2020, Vicki was diagnosed thyroid cancer (Hashimoto disease, an immune disorder where your immune system attacks the thyroid destroying it.) Time and luck were on her side, as the cancer was contained to her thyroid, which was removed on November 23rd in La Crosse, WI. As if that were not enough in an already difficult time, Vicki & Joe's trusty tour van broke down on the way home from La Crosse after her surgery. "Bad luck, blues, and trouble..."

Vicki has been at home, healing, and preparing for her return checkups - their son Keni has been helping out as needed and loaned them rides and a vehicle as needed for post surgery visits to La Crosse - but now is the time to help out a couple that have helped out thousands of others. It would be hard to count the number of benefits that Vicki & Joe have played on or helped with - and now it is our turn to help them out in a year that has been, well, a real hornet's nest.

Funds raised here will go directly to Vicki & Joe to help pay medical bills, extra expenses that the surgery has thrown at them, and getting their wheels back on the road - on top of a year where they have lost the majority of their touring income. We hope we can raise our stated goal of $20,000., but the GoFundMe platform will allow ALL donations to go to Vicki & Joe no matter if the goal is reached or not --- and who knows, maybe we can even do better for the couple that have brought so much blues and joy to our lives.

Further questions or details will be coming, including a series of special guest videos from musicians and friends of Vicki and Joe's. Let's see 2020 out the door, while helping Vicki and Joe keep stomping out the blues.
