Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS)!

Beginning Symptoms
Vicki had been feeling pained and weak in her legs for quite some time. Finally the unbearable pain, numbness and no ability to hold her baby urged her to go to the hospital ASAP. Will spare you the in between PAINFUL details.

Journey To Seek Medical Attention
Leaving work early she seeked medical attention at St. Joseph's where they sent her home with pain meds. Did they send her home due to no medical insurance?! That's unknown. Vicki knew something was going on and needed to get to the root of problem versus masking. Days past and on Sun. Feb 12th she went to TMC (Tucson Medical Center) where TONS of tests were done. They even tried to send her home at one point. Thankfully one of her siblings didn't allow that. TMC kept her admitted then shortly after more testing was officially diagnosed with GBS for the 2nd time in her life.

What is GBS
GBS: Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms.
These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body.

FAITH SO HARD
So, at that point it was time to keep the FAITH high and put this in God's hands. Its a storm that is for our higher power.

Vicki's Goal
Her main focus is to be able to WALK again and be able to go back to her normal lifestyle with her babies and family. She's able to talk better now. Her goal was to avoid having the feeding tube as she had before (it was to that point).

Today's Progress
Today, she is able to open her mouth and smile which is HUGE improvement, can sit for a longer time and eye doesn't roll like before. The bedside toilet is a big help along with so many loved ones by her side. She is never alone (24/7).

We're creating this account as many people have reached out to help by donating. Right now, she has no medical insurance, will need physical therapy at some point soon, lost wages and expenses that accrue during this horrible and unpredicted storm.
