My mother was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that has spread to her brain, her stomach, and kidneys. She has other multiple masses throughout her entire body. The doctors' focus is on her brain right now. She has also started targeted radiation treatment on her brain. Then the doctors will follow up with chemotherapy and a plan for the other tumors throughout her body.
I first took my mom to the hospital because she was slurring her words and was unable to walk. Within 1 1/2 hours, they diagnosed her with stage 4 cancer and admitted her into the ICU. I was sure they were gonna say she had a stroke and tell us what we needed to do moving forward, but against anyone's worst fears, they told my mom and I she had stage 4 cancer. At first, my mother refused treatment, but I assured her and am continually reassuring her that I will be here every step of the way on this journey with her and for her. It is going to be a long road and there will be bad days, but I just keep reassuring her that we will be here for her.
I am reaching out because a little help goes a long way. We need help getting her supplies like Depends, absorbing mats for her bed, gloves, wipes, etc., and a cooling cap kit to help her with her chemo so her fingernails, toenails, and hair don't fall out. We also need help with hotel costs to stay close to the hospital for her treatment Monday through Friday because we currently live upstairs and she is unable to climb the stairs after treatment. We also need a little help with gas money to go back and forth to her treatments. Although we do have some money, a little help can go a long way. Thank everyone in advance.
