Fred and Vicki Bacon celebrated 40 years of marriage on December 19, 2020. Just 10 days later, they both tested positive for Covid-19. Within a week, Vicki had to be hospitalized. Just a short time later, she was placed on a ventilator. In spite of doctors' best efforts, she was never able to come off that ventilator. Vicki passed away peacefully at Baylor University Medical Center on February 10th, 2021 with her beloved husband, Fred, and their son, Michael, at her bedside.

Fred and Vicki dedicated their lives to ministering in the Christian Church. They have served in churches in several states. Vicki had a special heart for youth ministry and touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of young people throughout the course of their chosen life's work. God blessed Vicki with a beautiful voice and allowed her to reach many, many more people through her music ministry. In addition to his work and service in the church, Fred has spent the last 20 years as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator, walking this long, hard road with countless patients and families before he had to walk it himself with his sweet wife.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Fred's work hours and income were significantly reduced just prior to Vicki's death. The money raised through this fundraiser will allow him to settle her outstanding medical bills and funeral expenses. Fred does not want to ask for any more than what is needed and will appreciate with all of his heart whatever contribution people are able to make. He has spent a lifetime showing compassion and generosity to those who need it most. I pray the favor may be returned to him now in his own hour of need.
