Fire Relief Fund for Kevin & Vicki Allard

Donation protected
My cousin(s), Kevin and Vicki lost their home on Goodpasture Road in Vida, Oregon in the Holiday Farm Fire (see details below). Our goal here is to help them pay for a public adjuster (insurance advocate) that can help them navigate the long, complex process of working through their loss and rebuilding their lives. They've done some preliminary research and found that this service will cost them upwards of $90,000 (or 10% of the insurance settlement) and we hope to give them a good boost in that direction.

On the evening of Monday, September 7th, the power went out and the Allards went to bed early. At 11 PM, Vicki was awakened by a phone call from a friend, alerting her of a fire that was about 20 miles up the highway. She and Kevin each packed just a change of clothes, and very few bare essentials before getting frustrated by the process of packing in the dark. They went back to bed assuming they'd get an official warning if things got serious, and have time to pack and prepare for an evacuation order. Just 15 minutes later, the order came: an emergency alert came through to their phones “GET OUT NOW." They grabbed their cat, dog, and the few things they had packed and headed to a hotel.

After two nights at the hotel, they drove to their daughter Brianne's house in Windsor, CA. They spent days in limbo wondering about their beloved home until a dear friend from Vida called with the news on Saturday, September 12th; their home was gone.

If you know Kevin and Vicki, you know they are generous, kind, and hard-working as all get out. They are simple folks that spent their lives providing beautiful, fulfilling lives for their kids (Brianne and Chase) and saving their money for a comfortable retirement the best they could. They finally made it. They were living in their dream home, and they didn't take it for granted for one second. Kevin loved to work on the property and walk his dog down Goodpasture Road, which he did twice daily. Vicki adored the view of the McKenzie River from her kitchen window, and loved gathering family and friends out on the deck. The two looked at each other every single day and thanked their lucky stars to have realized their retirement dream.

The Allards lost more than a house in this fire. They lost their dream and nearly everything they owned, including paintings by Kevin's mother, antique clocks Kevin had refurbished, family heirlooms and photos, and countless treasures from their children's childhoods. While we could never replace these items for them, we can certainly help them get the support they need to navigate the journey to recovery.

Though Kevin and Vicki would only ask for your love and support, I'm here to ask you, if you've got anything to give, and feel so inspired, to please donate here.

We cannot thank you enough!

Love,
the family of the Allards
