Hi my name's Hannah ,
Up until 2022 I lived a normal life , I was healthy, active and full of energy.
A horse threw me while I was training. I broke my spine & I underwent a massive spinal fusion with a cage built into my lower back.
After my surgery I never made a full recovery , my health would dip up and down and never stay consistent despite being the perfect patient as i done everything to get better.
At 29 years of age I watched my life unfold and started loosing everything I had worked hard for slip away due to ill health.
I had numerous STATIC scans in Ireland that came back inconclusive. I was constantly being admitted to hospital and the "resolution" was take pain medications and rest. Even though i would use crutches on and off for years and need braces due to help keep me up right.
In October 24 I became extremely sick and lethargic, my health took a nose dive and I could barely stand with exhaustion and pain...I could not get stabilized. I was getting no solutions in my own country and made the choice to travel across seas to get answers. I self funded MOVING scans. Unfortunately Ireland doesnt have them. I recieved a DMX in America and CBCTs & vascular tests in Barcelona with a neurosurgeon.
My results where gut wrenching.. My joints/ bones in my spine had started to collapse in on my skeleton.
I finally had a correct diagnosis of my condition.. I have ligamentous joint instability - a progressive disorder that becomes a disease if not treated. Causing instability threw my Musculoskeletal system. My instability started in my lower back and spread to my neck.
Ligaments hold our bones in place to stop them moving in destructive ways in our body. The force/ trauma I was thrown from the horse knocked out multiple structures within my spine when I hit the ground. This results in my spinal joints press on vital organs, nerves and my spinal cord.
Below my skull at C1 & C2 & lower back L2 L3 (above my spinal fusion) . Craniocervical instability and lumbar joint instability.
The top 2 bones under my skull C1 & C2 are loose and slide forward excessively. That press into my brain stem causing causing dysautinomia and neurological symptoms. The compression results in the nerve that's located infront of these two bones effect my breathing, eating(gastroparesis), digestion,(malopsorbtion) ect...
I have severe weakness and dizziness due to these bones moving excessively and cutting off blood flow to my brain. I suffer with severe headaches also due to this.
My L2 & L3 are pressing in on my spinal cord causing kidney function to become compromised aswell as pain.
When I returned to Ireland and showed my drs my correct diagnosis they told me they couldn't treat me as Ireland doesnt have the resources to access the medical help I need..AGAIN
Fortunatley i have found a doctor that can do my surgery but unfortunately I need to go to America to undergo surgery.
The surgery will take out pieces of my bone marrow from my hip and place it into my neck structures threw my mouth..
This will be my own autologous. My lower back will also be treated to pull my spine off my spinal cord at L2 and L3 level.
Other areas of my neck will also be treated and lower back to stop the spread of the disease.
Most days feel like I'm barely surviving because i am most certainly not living as myself and loved ones watch my body deteriorate. However, I'm extremely grateful after nearly 3 years of health battles & misdiagnosis to finally have a CORRECT diagnosis & treatment to hopefully go forward.
This hasn't been easy to write as I'm quiet private with my health but every little donation helps & gratefully appreciated.
Thanks Hannah x
