My brother-in-law has cancer. Stage 3 multiple Myeloma to be precise. It’s a form of blood cancer. These are not words I ever thought I’d write. I also never thought I’d find myself making a GoFund Me, but here I sit.

If you don’t know my Brother-in-law DC & my sister Michele, well, you’re really missing out. They’re probably the most amazing couple you could hope to meet. They do volunteer work in the community, they’re always there when a family member has a birthday, graduates, is sick, or has any other significant life event. After 17 years together, Michele & DC are the constant, the reliable presence in the lives of so many friends and family members. If you haven’t had the pleasure of knowing DC, think of a 6’7” Phil Dunphy: an affable, kind, funny, sometimes goofy giant who adores his wife and can help you setup the latest gadget. He’s the kind of man that you simply cannot imagine anyone disliking. This amazing man and his sweet wife are heading into a very difficult patch in their journey through this world. Even with medical insurance, kicking this cancer’s ass will come with a price tag well into six-figures, and, as any of you who have had to go on long term disability know, a fraction of a paycheck just doesn’t help the ends to meet like the full thing does. My family, being composed of a lot of educators and public servants, is not what you would call well-off. In my inability to truly make things better for my little sister, in my powerlessness to stop this thing from crashing over them, I am reaching out to any and all to help ease their burden in whatever way you are able. I thank all of you for helping them through this trying time in whatever way that you're able.
