Hello everyone,

My name is Ronda, and I'm fundraising for my friend, Karin Fletcher.

On July 16th, Karin suffered a catastrophic fall, in which the underside of a path light punctured her eye. As a result, she is now completely blind in her left eye, which likely could become permanent or worse.

Her husband brought her to Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, where they were very slow to implement the necessary attention and care she needed! After the CT scan was finally completed and reviewed by an Ophthalmology surgeon, Dr. Townly, she was rushed to the eye clinic to see him. They then hurried over to Bergan Mercy Hospital for emergency surgery. Fifteen stitches later (in her eyeball), she was headed home for the night. So far, she has and will be going to Ophthalmology appointments almost every day.

Another surgery was performed about a week after her injury to repair the damage further. Unfortunately, it is too soon to determine a prognosis because there is still too much blood behind her iris. Possible scenarios include total permanent blindness in her left eye, some vision restored, replacing specific elements with those from a donor, having a complete transplant, or inserting a prosthetic eye.

The first goals are to keep the pressure in check and avoid infection. In doing that, Karin has been applying 21 eye drops daily to help achieve those goals. It's going to be a long road.

The funds donated will be used for medical and related expenses resulting from her injuries. We have NO idea what the costs will add up to, so we took a guess; therefore, the goal could be inflated or lower than what is realistic.

Karin would like to author her progress notes in "daily" journals. We are all requesting prayers for the best-case scenario and a speedy recovery!
