Home from Death Row: Donations for Jeff Hill
Donation protected
After serving almost twenty years in prison-- half of which were spent on death row--Jeff Hill was released in May 2020. Now that he's back home in Cincinnati, Jeff needs support so that he can rebuild a life for himself. Any contribution you are able to make will go directly to Jeff's first year of rent.
-----------
When Jeff was on trial in 1991, the victim's family, who was also Jeff's family, made clear that they did not want the death penalty for Jeff, explaining “another death in our family will only add more suffering and grief to the burdens we have already borne.” Despite their wishes, Hamilton County prosecutors pursued the death penalty and succeeded in sending Jeff to death row.
In February 2009, just one month before his execution date, his sentence was commuted to 25 years-life. During the years that followed, community advocates, some of whom were IJPC supporters, worked hard to share Jeff's story, support his family, and convince the parole board that Jeff should be released. Finally, after continued advocacy on behalf of his family, the parole board voted to release Jeff from prison in May 2020.
Jeff sends his sincerest thanks for all those who are able to give and all those who are keeping him in their thoughts and prayers."
