About Darcy
Early Years (2011 to 2013)
Darcy was diagnosed with Global Delay at a young age, which affects his social and emotional aspects of his life. When Darcy started primary school he found it hard to relate to his peers, community and even his family. In Year 4(2011) Darcy start achieving outstanding results in the school swimming carnivals making it to the State level giving Darcy the confidence to start relating and socializing with his age group. In year 6(2013) Darcy out did himself by breaking his personal best times and was selected to represent NSW at the National Swimming Titles.
Now (2014 to 2015)
With Darcy feeling like he had the confidence to integrate with other peers, he joined the Singleton Swim Club. Within the past 16months Darcy has broken 6 NSW 13 years and under SB14 Multi-class records both short and long course, and one Australian 13 years and under SB14 Multi-class record. This year Darcy competed at the 2015 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships coming home with a handful of medals, PBs and a NSW state record.
Darcy’s commitment to his swimming
He trains hard and always puts in 150%, he is in the pool 5 to 6 times a week. Living in a small country town we travel sometimes 2-3 hours for meets many of them being an overnight stay.
The future
At the age of 14 Darcy’s dream is to someday representing Australia. And has been selected into the NSW Development Squad which will open the doors up to help him reach his goals. He has now been selected to represent Australia at the Global Games in Ecuador
