Help Jeremy and His Family

Tax deductible
Update #5 (10pm 9/24/2023)

We had a chance to visit with Ms. Yilin Tang at Jeremy's hospital this afternoon, and delivered the first check of donations we have already received. It was a very difficult but also hopeful conversation all at the same time. Difficult because Ms. Tang is still in the process of coming to terms with the cruel reality, but agonized with the why's. Words cannot possibly describe the enormous trauma Ms. Tang and her family are enduring. Despite very gradual improvements, Jeremy is still in a coma and on life support, facing a life very likely changed fundamentally from what was possible merely 2 weeks ago. But Ms. Tang appreciates all the support and well-wishes pouring from every corner of our communities, and she believes that has definitely given her strength to get past the most dangerous and difficult few days in the past 2 weeks. With that support and faith in God's grace and love, she is steeling up for a long fight alongside Jeremy for the possibility of a miracle, however faint it might be.❤️❤️

Update #4 (7am 9/21/2023)

We have an update from Jeremy's dad Arthur:
"Jeremy remains in critical care, but he continues to show movement in all his limbs and is responding. We are very grateful for your continued prayers and support. I do believe that your prayers and overall support, in general, are playing a big part in this positive change for the better. " - Amen!

For our donors: there are indeed two GoFundMe campaigns for Jeremy and his family: one by the family's neighbor(s) and friend(s), now managed by Jeremy's dad Arthur (link: https://gofund.me/851f96ab), and this one by us, Austin Chinese-American Network. Both are endorsed by Jeremy's family, and you may donate through either campaign. The reasons ACAN launched our separate campaign are due to the following:
  • We are trying to reach different communities, particularly the Chinese American community and other Asian American communities;
  • ACAN is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Donations through our fundraisers are typically 100% tax deductible in the US;
  • In this campaign for Jeremy, ACAN will make up any surcharges by GoFundMe so the entire donated amount will go to the family for Jeremy's care and legal recourses.

Still, wherever you choose to donate, your generous support is greatly appreciated and exactly what Jeremy and his family need at this very difficult moment. The family continues to express profound gratitude for all your support and prayers❤️❤️.

God Bless!

Update #3 ( 6am 9/19/2023)

We received VERY encouraging words from Jeremy’s family: his latest MRI indicates stable condition; his brain has been free of spasms in the past couple of days, so doctors have reduced the number of monitoring patches attached to his head. YESSSSSSS!❤️❤️❤️

Your continuous prayers and overwhelming support definitely made this potential inflection point - fingers crossed - possible!!!❤️❤️❤️ But Jeremy is still in a coma and still faces a potentially long and arduous road to full recovery. But with our community’s unwavering support and prayers for God’s grace and love, little precious Jeremy, his family, and we, are gonna win this fight❤️❤️.

Update #2 (12pm 9/17/2023)

On this day of worship, we continue to pray for Jeremy’s recovery, and for God’s grace and love At this moment, Jeremy is still in a coma, and the family and medical staff are all working hard to help him come back to light. All your prayers and support are highly appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Update #1 (3pm 9/16/2023)

We are incredibly grateful for and deeply touched by the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from our communities. Your prayers and generosity are surely making a difference for Jeremy and his family. By this morning, Jeremy is in a deep sleep but still fighting for his life. At this trying hour, your continued thoughts and prayers provide the strengths for the family to keep fighting, however small a chance Jeremy may have. Miracles do happen. God bless❤️❤️

Original Post (9/15/2023)

Dear community members,

With a very heavy heart, we regrettably report that a heinous crime has fallen on a beloved family of our community. On early morning this past Monday Sept. 11 in Georgetown's Teravista neighborhood, an assailant with a baseball bat broke into Ms. Yilin Tang and her husband Art's house, and viciously attacked their family. Ms. Tang and Art's sweet 6-year-old boy Jeremy suffered a shattering blow to the back of his head, causing life-threatening injuries. Jeremy has been in critical condition and is fighting for his life, with dwindling hope. Jeremy and his family desperately need our community's support.

Jeremy is a bright, warm and loving boy with big dreams. He had just gotten an intermediate-level belt in jiu-jitsu, played his first soccer match, and was studying Chinese. Together with his 3-year-old brother, they are the joy and light of the young family. His mother, Ms. Yilin Tang, is a Chinese language teacher at Round Rock ISD. Ms. Tang has been an active member of the Chinese-American community and involved in many cultural and art events organized by ACAN.

According to Jeremy's family: "As parents, our hearts ache with what our child has endured. We are determined to provide the love and care necessary for his healing. But we also recognize that this journey will come with unforeseen medical expenses and ongoing support needs. "

On behalf of Ms. Yilin Tang's family, we humbly ask for your kindness, your empathy, and your support that the family will need in their struggle for life, and for justice. At this very dark and challenging hour, your prayers and support mean the world to Jeremy and his family❤️❤️.

ACAN will also make up all the surcharges by GoFundMe on your donations to send the entire amount to Ms Tang's family
