Juno's Vet Bill

Hi, my name is Noelle.

A few weeks ago, our sweet and social 2 year old Juno got hit by a car. She was lucky, sustaining a broken elbow and some bruises. You might wonder why we didn't pay with insurance, or have an electric fence to prevent the whole thing. But those are the kinds of expenses that get cut when finances are very tight.

It was made clear to us by the vet, that with a badly broken front leg, without surgery, she would lose the use of it. She would no longer be hiking or swiming with us. We feared that Juno would live a life of increasing isolation, getting left at home. We did not want that for her. We live in the country, and many folks in our situation would probably put a dog down themselves. And fleetingly, we did consider. But she is our Juno. We love her and did not want to give up in her. We also wanted our children to understand that you don't give up on those you love. So here we are, a further $5,500 in the hole, with Juno beginning a long recovery.

Among all the dire needs in this world, it feels wrong to divert money from urgent humanitarian and ecological causes. So if that is happening here, skip this. But if that is not part of the calculus for you, we sure could use a bit of help with this bill - it is the kind of set back that can take a long time to revover from. And also, it is the sort of gift that, if you know us, you know we will pay forward. Thank you for your help!
