Negligence lead to the unnecessary and untimely death of Marlon Harrison and we are seeking donations for the family to pay for an independent private autopsy to get answers.
Years ago Marlon had a knee replacement where a prosthetic knee was put in place. On May 14th that prosthetic failed sending Marlon to the emergency room via ambulance.
Marlon went to several appointments and was eventually informed that Aseptic Loosening had occurred and that there could possibly be an infection. On Wednesday May 25th (11 days after the knee went out causing him to fall) doctors finally prescribed antibiotics for the infection and Marlon took his first dosage, however it was too late as Marlon passed away the next day. Marlon wasn’t scheduled to meet with another specialist until June 1st to discuss the next steps however he passed before he was able to make it to that appointment.
The emergency room physicians are stating cardiac arrest as the official cause of death but have no plans on determining what caused the cardiac arrest. We, Marlons family, strongly feel that the cardiac arrest directly stems from the infection that the doctors waited a week and a half to treat. Marlon did not have heart issues and besides the issues with his knees, he was in good health. We strongly feel that the infection lead to sepsis which is what caused the cardiac arrest.
As no surprise the hospital has informed us that they will not be performing an autopsy so it will be up to the family to pay out of pocket for one.
Based on the time that it took for doctors to administer the blood test to confirm the infection and prescribe the antibiotics to treat the infection, on top of the time it took for them see Marlon, we strongly feel like negligence occurred so an autopsy is necessary, even though we have to foot the bill.
Marlon looked after everyone so we owe it to him to fight for him and to make sure that his family has the answers he deserves. As his fiancé I will not stop fighting for him because I know that he would do the same for not only me, but anyone that he loved. #JusticeForMarlon
