Help Mel During Cancer Treatment

On Sept 9, 2024, Mel Mac was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer). She will undergo chemo, radiation and hormone therapies and will be unable to work for the next year. She has been told by a Primary Care Network social worker that the most ideal financial support to apply for is AISH, a process which takes months, with no guarantee of being approved for funding.

Cancer and treatment are horrible enough things to go through, but to have to worry about rent and bills on top of treatment costs is a huge added stress - a stress that we are asking for your help with! We are hoping our community can help ease the financial burden for Mel and Chris as they face this physically and mentally exhausting challenge together.

Mel has made unparalleled contributions to the arts in YEG and beyond. Incredibly musically inclined, Mel was the Lead singer of Look Away and multi-instrumentalist in other projects with friends. Visual artist extraordinaire, Mel was a talented poster designer for the Metro Cinema and local music events. Many people know Mel from her current role as a much sought after, self-taught tattoo artist.

Mel is such a loving and supportive friend to so many people, and I know our community will want to shower her with love and support in return during this difficult time.
