On January 5th, Julio Flores a loving husband, devoted father, and hardworking provider was the victim of a violent assault. A gunshot wound to his neck caused a severe cervical spinal cord injury, leaving him unable to move his arms or legs.

For more than 20 years, Julio built his life through relentless hard work. He started earning just $7 an hour as a landscaper and, through loyalty, discipline, and leadership, rose to become a branch manager at the same company. He was a provider, a leader, and a man who earned every step forward.

That life was taken from him in seconds.

Julio now faces a long and uncertain road ahead one that includes intensive medical care, extensive rehabilitation, and lifelong adjustments simply to live safely and with dignity. His ability to work and provide for his family was taken away in an instant.

In the weeks and months ahead, Julio will need:

    • Specialized equipment including a wheelchair, hospital bed, lifts, and mobility aids

    • Major home modifications for accessibility and safety

    • In-home caregiving support
