Help with Poppy’s medical bills after attack

On Feb 24 2025, my dad was walking his puppy, Poppy. During this walk they were approached by another person and their dog who was not on a leash. The owner yelled out the dog was friendly. My dad held back and told him to carry on their walk anyways. After waiting until they turned on a different street my dad continued his walk. A few moments later, the other dog ran back to them and attacked Poppy and my dad.

My dad was able to fight the dog off with little help from the owner and then the dog took off and the owner walked away without saying a word.

Thankfully, my dad was in my area and able to carry the dog to my house. My partner and I rushed Poppy to the emergency vet, while my mom took my dad to the hospital for the injuries on his hands and arms.

Poppy’s stomach is punctured and had to have emergency surgery yesterday. The outcome looks good. This is my parents first dog after our family dog passed on in 2019. My dad is recently retired and this dog is his whole life right now. I am assisting as much as I can but with the vet bill looking to be almost 7K I am hoping to be able to help a bit more.
