I have been fortunate to be assisted by four different brilliant service dogs. I live with multiple disabilities, and service dogs generously help in all sorts of different situations. Sadly, last year my 8-year-old golden retriever Jeeves passed away from cancer, and I miss him terribly. The service dog school, Paws with a Cause, that has provided me with my last three dogs, no longer has trainers in Northern California to train me with a new dog. So after deliberation and research, I have decided to hire a local dog trainer to help me locate a rescue dog and train it to meet my needs. I'm very excited about this new adventure! Because the dog is not being provided by a non-profit dog school, I need to raise money to hire the dog trainer. After speaking to local dog trainers, I understand my future dog and I will need intensive custom training for a couple of months to establish our new partnership, followed by supplemental sessions.  Dogs naturally like to spend time with their people, and for service dogs that bond is extra strong. After living without a service dog for the past year, my life has been more challenging, lonelier, and less fun. Your help with raising funds for my new service dog will help me regain some lost independence and joy.
