Alicia's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Some of you know Alicia personally, while some of you know her through me. When someone asks me to describe Alicia, there’s just too many amazing things to say. She’s one of the kindest souls I have ever met, showing compassion and empathy to those around her. She lives her life by the motto “Be Kind” and will continue to put others before herself. She’s dedicated to her future career as a photographer, and only has one year left of college before she obtains her Bachelors degree from Point Park University. She never fails to cheer people up and knows how to make you laugh.

When Alicia and I reconnected, she slowly, but surely, embraced my lifestyle surrounded by animals. She went from unsure of many of them, to absolutely adoring and loving them. I proudly consider her someone in the animal community and I know many others do as well. The animal community is one that is typically extremely supportive of each other, and always helps when it is needed.

Recently, Alicia contracted salmonellosis which quickly led to her developing pneumonia. She was hospitalized Saturday, 6/19/21, and was moved from regular patient care to the ICU due to her condition not improving. She is still in the hospital as I am creating this. She has received and continues to receive extensive work ups to check her condition and will remain in the hospital for at least another few days. Because she is in so much pain, she has not been able to get out of her bed for a few days and will most likely need physical therapy in order to ensure she can continue walking properly. I will not be going in depth about where she potentially contracted it, as that is not our current focus. Our current focus is making sure Alicia gets home quickly and is not severely impacted by her medical bills. Even with her medical insurance, the bills will be astronomical.

Alicia is known for her selflessness, but now it’s our time to prioritize her and her needs. I truly hope we reach this goal, as it will take a tremendous burden off her and her family whenever she can come home to recover. Please help my best friend, it breaks my heart seeing her suffering.
