Support Tonya's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Hi-my name is Tonya-and I have set my pride to the side for the first time in my life. I believe my cover picture and my facial expression states it all-Life is really kicking my ass right now as I am sure it is doing a lot of people. I got diagnosed with malignant neoplasm in my breasts a couple of weeks ago and it has been quite expensive to say the least given the procedures and tests I have had up until the point of diagnosis. I get to pay 70-80% up front due the fact I am not over 40 and it is not preventative care. I missed the 40 age mark by one year…..bad timing I guess. Insurance Is not very kind and picks up the bare minimum which is nothing in some cases. My friend was kind enough to start one of these for me, but I felt that it needed to be heard from me. A wise person told me once-you can’t expect help if you don’t ask for it. I did not want to do this at first because I did not want to be taken as a bum or someone just holding their hand out for a free ride. I genuinely need help.There is a definite out of pocket surgery to come and more procedures. We will not even start on the cost of prescriptions-I could have bought a used car at this point( insert sarcasm.) One does run out of things to sell at some point tragically. After 17 years, I took a lesser paying job last October to have more time with my son. That was a financial struggle that I fought through. It was well worth it given the time I have with him and the better mental state I am in as this company is amazing. Now this financial medical struggle is a nightmare. I know that no one out there owes me anything at all. The thing I do know is I go to these appointments and “pay” to try and live so I can be there for my son. I have always been independent and never asked no one for anything that I did not work for, so to say this is a humbling experience for me is an understatement. No programs out there are available to assist currently-I did my research. I just know the journey ahead is going to be expensive, painful, unforgettable, and will be able to be overcome.
