PLEASE HELP JIM AND VERNA GEE- San Marcos, Texas Flood Victims
In the early morning of May 24, 2015 my Grandparents woke to a bubbling sound in their house. My Grandpa put his feet down and he was up to his knees in water. Within 10 minutes the water rose and they were holding onto the back patio screaming for their lives. Neighbors from across the street heard their cries and came over with inflatable tubes and rescued my Grandparents. My Grandpa, who relies on oxygen machines, was unconscious and my Grandma was lifted to the hood of their car to get her out of the water. The National Guard came in a boat and rushed her to CTMC and my Grandpa was air lifted out.
My Grandpa remains in ICU at St David's in Austin. He has bruising all down his arms and is very weak and sore. My Grandma was discharged from the ER yesterday and is covered in bug bites and also very sore.
The biggest need right now is getting them settled. Because of their medical needs, making a space for them that will accommidate their medical equipment and a hospital bed is essential. The house and cars are gone and they have lost everything, including their beloved dog Sugar. We are asking for donations to assist in the clean up efforts, basic necessitites for them, and for establishing a livable space for them in the next few days.
We will continue to update this page with information about my Grandparents' recovery and the clean up efforts. They have a long road ahead but an amazing support network.
The Gee Family, The Sowards Family, and The Smiley Family thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
