Gift of Music-Ghana to Skinner West
Donation protected
As the music teacher at Skinner West Elementary School in Chicago, I am thrilled to share that I’ve been fortunate enough to receive a Fund For Teachers Fellowship to attend Dagara Music Center in Ghana. I will learn traditional music, participate in drum and xylophone making workshops as well as teaching at a local school.
I will be leaving for Ghana on June 29th. While I am there, I will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy authentic instruments from their makers. It would be amazing to bring them back to Skinner West and share Ghana’s rich musical culture with my students . Unfortunately, the fellowship funding does not cover the money to buy these instruments.
I now humbly ask you to help support our Skinner Superstars and donate money so I may purchase instruments while in Ghana that will enrich our music program for many years to come. No donation is too small, and these instruments will go a long way to enhance our Skinner West curriculum!
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing this music with our Skinner kids this fall!
