As many of you recall, on August 27, 2020, several of our Rain for Rent team members out of our Sulphur, LA branch suffered a substantial amount of damage caused by Hurricane Laura. Striking land at the top end of a Category 4 Hurricane, with windspeeds of up to 150 mph, those in the storm’s path were severely impacted. The area was subsequently hit by Hurricane Delta on October 9, 2020, a Category 2 Hurricane. In response to the devastation, Rain for Rent began the process of allowing employees to make PTO donations to those affected, in anticipation of the declaration of a federal emergency allowing for such donations. To our dismay, the declaration was never made and we were unable to process the donations.
Though many months have passed, we still have several team member’s whose homes remain uninhabitable, with some being unsalvageable and requiring a rebuild from the ground up. These team members continue to be in need of financial assistance, many are temporarily living in campers while their homes are repaired and rebuilt. To help those team members, Rain for Rent has set up a GoFundMe page to accept donations. The company will match up to $5,000 in donations.
