Dear Family and Friends,
Mary and I are going to Boise, Idaho, for the month of October on a grant from Surel's Place (Surelsplace.org) a non-profit artist-in-residence program, that aims to support local, national, and international artists of many disciplines by offering them the time, space, and shelter necessary to focus on their work, which they will share with the public through free events including exhibits, classes, workshops, readings, lectures, and performances for people of all ages.
During our stay in Boise we will work on our book: “Science Inspired Art”, an illustrated and narrative story of the work and inspiration behind my art work, we will conduct a workshop for adults and children: “Making Amoebas”, and we will prepare a final show and art talk: “Lost and Found: Amoeba Art.”
Not exactly a vacation but an exciting time to focus on our creative work.
Surel's Place pays for the trip, our lodging there and a small stipend. We want to do this to further our artistic career, to experience what it is like to be a full time artist.
Call it a whim, a mistake, or a leap of faith. But we want to do this before we die.
We are asking for your help as a patron of the arts. It does not have to be big and it is tax-deductible. (Check should be made to Surel's Place (for Jacques Menache on the memo line) but your gift will help us survive while we're there and come back to our home (not the bank's) at the end of the month.
Our eternal gratitude comes with this request.
Thank you, Jacques and Mary.
