Help my friends

Hey everyone out there, my name is Max Fish and I’m from Rochester New York

For two of my closest friends, Desiree and Chad, their impromptu “Valentine’s Day” over-night trip to see one of their favorite bands in Columbus Ohio, quickly turned into a living nightmare. On February 20, 2023, while walking through a parking lot to locate their Uber, an intoxicated man approached accusing them of attempting to break into his vehicle while they simply passed by. Within mere seconds he reached into his vehicle and opened fire on Chad, shooting him three times from a point blank range. He fell to the ground immediately, as blood spilled from his neck, Desiree used her hands as a tourniquet while waiting for EMS & police to arrive. Upon arrival to Ohio State Wexler Medical Center, Desiree discovered that Chad was stable, but had suffered many life threatening injuries, and was in critical condition. The trauma surgeon explained that he needed 18 units of blood to stabilize him, intubation and placement of two chest tubes in his side. He endured pulmonary contusions including a hemopneumothorax (blood and air) in his lungs, scapula fractures on both shoulders, two spinal vertebrae fractures, three broken ribs, and a severed vertebral artery in his neck. For a week Chad fought his absolute hardest and surpassed all expectations by nurses and doctors, overcoming the odds. With the help of hospital staff, his amazing family and girlfriend, and prayers from loved ones, he has miraculously survived the worst. Desiree and he returned home late at night on February 27, however they are not quite out of the woods yet. Due to an injury caused by the bullet to Chads dorsal scapular nerve, he currently has no use of his left arm, and is still in an incredible amount of pain at all bullet entry and exit sites including his ribs. This go fund me was created with the intention to offset to cost of unexpected hotel stays while in care, medical bills (due to the fact that New York State issued Medicaid is not accepted at OSWMC) their cost of living, groceries, non-insurance covered medications, and trauma therapy. Until Chad has (hopefully) fully recovered, and regained the use of his arm, Desiree will be the sole provider in their household and will return to work on Wednesday March 1st purely by necessity. They are still trying to process this horrific event, and are beyond grateful to be back in their with each other where they belong. Please consider donating to ease the financial hardship of two incredibly kind people that have endured the worst together. Any amount helps, thank you for your contribution and taking the time to read. If you cannot donate please consider sharing!
