Ruby’s recovery
Donation protected
Ruby's world changed overnight when a blood infection led to bacterial endocarditis, causing a hole in one of her heart valves. Unfortunately, pieces of the infection broke off and caused Ruby to suffer 4 minor and one major stroke. At just 13 years old, Ruby has already undergone surgery to remove the clot in her brain and open-heart surgery to repair her valve.
Ruby now faces a challenging recovery At Sick Kids Hospital along with inpatient physio in Toronto to help with recovery from the stroke.
Her mother, Maggie, would understandably like to be in Toronto to help Ruby every step of the way. She will be unable to work at this time to look after Ruby and needs help to cover expenses. Maggie herself is currently recovering from having her thyroid removed.
How You Can Help:
We're aiming to raise $5,000 to support Ruby and Maggie through this difficult time.
Your donation will help cover:
Accommodation costs for Maggie and Ruby's siblings while Ruby is in the hospital along with rent and bills while Maggie is unable to work looking after Ruby. Funds will also cover any medical expenses or rehabilitation needs that Ruby might have whilst recovering.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference. Please donate if you can.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
