Hello! My name is Leah Roscoe and if you’re reading this, chances are your life has been touched by my best friend, Rachel deGuia-Davis.
Rachel is one of the most honest, fun-loving, compassionate, and determined 28 year-olds you’ll ever meet. Anyone who has crossed her path has been blessed with her joy for life and admirable strength. She grew up in Canal Fulton, OH and was a dedicated student-athlete at both Northwest High School and Gannon University. Rachel is passionate about her profession as an Occupational Therapist and helps her patients reach life’s highest potential each day. She is an extraordinary wife, ideal daughter, supportive sister, cheerleading aunt, and fun friend who shows up and supports her loved ones in so many ways.
In Fall 2018 at the age of 24, Rachel faced one of life’s hardest challenges when she was originally diagnosed with mucosal melanoma, a rare form of cancer.
Surrounded by family, friends, and an amazing team of doctors Rachel underwent intensive surgery to remove the tumor in her jaw. After surgery, she was faced with an extensive treatment journey of radiation and immunotherapy. With Alyssa by her side, Rachel remained strong and determined to win.
In early Spring 2021, Rachel found out her cancer had returned, but this time in her trachea. Rachel immediately began immunotherapy treatments. In Summer 2021, she underwent lengthy treatment of radiation to her neck region. Rachel continued to work as much as she could during these treatments.
Rachel bravely handled the news that although treatment for her trachea was helping, her cancer had metastasized to her liver and back. Before the holidays, Rachel began more intensive treatments to her liver.
Due to the ongoing progression of the disease and nature of cancer treatment, it is now becoming more difficult to keep up with daily life all while attempting to work to afford her medical care. This has ultimately placed Rachel in a financial hardship yet again. The finances are an added stress that Rachel certainly does not need right now.
My hope is after reading this that you too are inspired by her story and now know a little more about my honest, fun-loving, compassionate, and determined best friend. I hope your path has crossed hers or will one day.
Let’s all join Rachel’s determination to FIGHT ON and prove NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!
Whether it’s a monetary donation to help with medical bills, a message below, a prayer, a share of her story, a card, a smile, or even a thought I know Rachel will be beyond grateful and thankful for your support.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and the hearts of so many of Rachel’s loved ones for supporting her during this time.
All My Love,
Leah
