Steve's Cancer Treatment

Hi everyone. For those of you that aren't familiar with Steve's cancer journey, I'll brief you. He was diagnosed back in August 2021 with Colorectal cancer. In the meantime of receiving treatments, his cancer spread to his liver. At first the care at the local cancer center in Belpre was great and we felt like we were getting the best care that he needed. Fast forward to current, unfortunately, the Streckler Cancer Center in Belpre is no longer a treatment option. They keep dragging their feet and delaying treatments, even on days that his bloodwork is in the good range for treatment. It just seems as if they've given up on him and his battle. And we know he's not a quitter, he's always been a fighter and still is which is why we are trying to get Steve in to be seen at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. It is ranked #1 in the nation for cancer treatment and they have so much expertise in treating his kind of cancer. We should have started here at the very beginning. Thankfully his insurance will cover some of the cost of treatments and seeing the doctors there. We are still looking at a large expense with this. I'm looking into programs that help with flight costs but we still will have to pay for a place to stay and the cost of small meals. The initial meeting is usually over 3-5 days seeing a lot of doctors and having outpatient procedures and tests. So the first visit, he isn't expected to get admitted to the hospital but to come up with the best treatment plan. We are not ready to give up yet or ever. We will fight every step of the way!
