My name is Irina Vic and I am looking to raise with your help $32,000 to help pay for my nephew’s operation and rehabilitation period that will save his life. Operation will take a place in January 2020, we have very limited time.
Up to around age of 13, Jordan was a happy-go-lucky boy, enjoying karate, basketball, soccer and school. Things took a turn for the worse. At 14 years old (2016), Jordan was diagnosed with a severe form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)/ Crohn Disease.
Jordan lives with his mum Elena (my identical twin sister) who is single parent, and Jordan’s full time carer. Elena was running a successful family day care business for 7 years but was forced to close her business to provide care and support to her only son. Elena has a heart of gold and has supported many charities over the years. Now it’s our turn to help them!
Between April 2016 and May 2018 Jordan has had strong medication, blood transfusions, regular hospitalisation, injections, and steroids and even went through chemotherapy. The regular bleeding he endured left his blood levels very low.
Still, Jordan’s health only grew worse. Jordan's weight dropped and he became alarmingly underweight: 49 kg for a height of 180 cm.
By late May 2018, Jordan’s condition was so poor there was no alternative but to remove over 90% of his colon. The removed section showed chronic inflammatory bowel disease, with no normal colonic mucosa identified. While the operation bought time, it deeply impacted on Jordan's already poor quality of life. With an external bag in place of his bowels, swimming, sport and a normal teenage lifestyle were out of the question.
Now, Jordan faces a deadly risk. His current arrangement is prone to constant infection, and there's a serious risk that infection could spread to other organs and cause them to fail. The solution is to reconnect his bowel (Colostomy reversal operation). Due to his medical history, this can only be performed by a specialist professor of medicine Michael J. Solomon, Colorectal Surgeon based in R.P.A.H. Medical Centre, Newtown NSW 2042, who is experienced with such cases. The cost is $27,000 Australian dollars plus rehabilitation period and medication cost.
Elena hopes for every success for her only child, but is struggling to pay for this life saving operation on her carer's pension. She's thinking long term and is saving for the rehabilitation expenses following the operation.
With your help, Jordan will be able to participate in the sports he was previously involved in, take his driving test and study Real Estate Course. Due to his health condition Jordan is not able seat upright for long. At the moment, he is not able to dream about it as any job involves walking, driving and long hours in seating position in office.
Please help with the operation expense, any donation will be highly appreciated. Jordan, recently turned 18, dreams of being free from his terrible disease and looks forward to contributing to society as a healthy young man.
