Hello, my name is Rhonda, and I am trying to raise money to prevent foreclosure on my home. I would like to start by asking that no one prejudge me based on what I'm trying to do, and to please have empathy. I have been going through very difficult times for the past two years. I'm a retired teacher on disability and live on a fixed income that arrives once a month, and my grandchildren and daughter live with me. Just this past October my pension was shortened by 350.00 because I only taught 17 years and not the 27 required years and this was due to failing health and age. I am 69 years old. I only qualified for 52 % of the full amount for disability. My car is 17 years old and I've had to have it in the repair shop six times since last August and the repair bills were not cheap. I cannot afford to buy a new used one though. I was also on the budget plan for Kentucky Power Company which is where they prorate the electric bill to try to keep the bill down some, however, in October of each year they do a review and any outstanding balance you have becomes due at that time. This amount is then due and payable on top of the monthly electric bill. This time it made my electric bill over 1000.00 and I could not pay it all. I made a payment arrangement but my pension only arrives at the end of the month and the electric company would not accept that date so I tried to pay a little on that and my house payment to keep the electricity from being disconnected. On top of that, groceries have to be bought and as everyone knows the rising cost of food has become astronomical and to feed a family of four for an entire month requires a substantial amount of money. I have other bills as well: utilities, medical, and a small loan. I've been trying to juggle things to keep anything from being cut off and to have food for my family. Then there is also the expense of gasoline, which has also risen astronomically. My mortgage company was willing to work with me at first but since I am past due for one payment with another coming due they have said they cannot help me anymore and I have until the tenth of March to pay 1356.00, or they will begin foreclosure. I have no savings or 401 K plans. I realize that I have been unwise and made bad decisions and I know I have no one to blame but myself and it breaks me to have to ask for others to help so that I won't lose our home, we have no place else to go. I would not do this if I were not desperate and I have never done anything like this before. I cannot get a small loan because of my low credit rating and I have no credit cards, so this gofundme is my only hope. I know there will be people who judge me because of asking, but as I said before if I had any other choice I would not ask. Because I retired on disability due to mobility problems ( I've had both hips and both knees replaced) I can't substitute teach or due online teaching. I can't do anything that would help make extra money that has to do with teaching so I am without the means to help myself. These funds will be used to pay 21st Mortgage to keep my home from being put into foreclosure and will keep a home for me and my family. Once this is caught up I will make sure that no matter what the mortgage is always paid even if the electricity does get disconnected. I've tried getting help through local agencies but because of my pension, I have been unable to get help. Please, if anyone can find it in their heart to help me, it would be greatly appreciated and will prevent the loss of a home to a family of four. Thank you in advance to anyone who helps.
