Emergency Support for My Widowed Mom
Donation protected
My name’s Kate, I’m the only child to Debbie and Pat Meyer.
Nine months ago, my mom lost her husband — and I lost my dad, very suddenly. Since then, life has been incredibly hard for her. At 72 years old, she's now facing not only the deep grief of losing her life partner but also the overwhelming financial burden he left behind.
My mom has limited mobility, and is unable to work. She's on a fixed income, and it’s just not enough to cover everything, even basic needs. Recently, she has had to go into her savings and use most of what was there just to make her mortgage payment — and there are still utility bills, insurance, and basic necessities piling up. She’s been doing her best to stay strong, but it’s more than one person in her situation should have to handle alone.
My dad didn’t leave much behind financially, and now my mom is trying to survive on what little she has left, all while managing her health and day-to-day needs.
My mom has always been the kind of person who made sure everyone else had what they needed before thinking of herself. She didn’t just raise me — she treated all my friends like they were her own, welcoming them with kindness and endless care. She’s always been a steady, loving presence for everyone around her.
Now she’s the one who needs help, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure she knows she’s not alone.
It breaks my heart to see her struggle after everything she’s already been through.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help lift some of that burden. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward keeping her in her home, covering her essential bills, and giving her some peace of mind during this incredibly difficult time.
If you can give — or even just share this — it would mean more than you could ever imagine. It’s hard asking for help but in times of need, we have to lean on our community.
With Gratitude,
