Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Clarice Benoit. I recently moved to Berwick with my husband Jon and our four young children. and since September I have become a committed volunteer music teacher at the Berwick District School, and have opened a small catering business. My eldest daughter Amaya is 13 years old and has been taking dance lessons since she was 4 years old. She has studied dance in Antigonish at ACDA with Sally Clark and Louise Meyers. She studies ballet, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre, but her favorite is ballet. She works hard at every practice and is determined to pursue dance as a career.
This year she joined her first competitive school in Kingston – Precision Dance Company. She really enjoys her classes, and they have helped her feel more confident and able to make new friends. Last weekend she competed at the Thunderstruck Canada Competition in Moncton N.B. This is the largest dance competition in the Maritimes with more than 1000 participants aged 12 to 17. This was Amaya’s first Thunderstruck competition, and we were so thrilled when she returned with four awards: Highest Mark, First Place, Judges Choice and Top Routine. We were speechless when she was also awarded a scholarship to an intensive dance training convention in California with North America’s top dance teachers and trainers.
We work hard to provide the best for our family, and in order for Amaya to attend this once-in a lifetime opportunity, we are raising funds for her airfare, food and accomodations for Amaya and I (her mother) to California before July 1st. Her training takes place from July 20th to 27th.
Please help us reach our goal, and help Amaya on her quest to become a professional dancer!
