Invisible illness

Donation protected

Hi My name is Martin - Mental health is often called an "invisible illness" — but I want to change that. Through my photography project, The Scream Project, I aim to give mental health a face, a voice, and a story. I’m Martin, and I live with depression and am awaiting an autism diagnosis. I know first-hand the challenges of living with mental illness, but I also know that it doesn’t have to be a barrier to achieving dreams. With your help, I can create powerful images that build not just awareness, but true understanding. Together, let's make the invisible visible.

Bringing Mental Health into Focus with The Scream Project

Hello, my name is Martin Scriven Tudge. I have lived experience of mental illness, including long-term depression and, more recently, I am awaiting an autism assessment. These experiences have given me not only personal challenges, but also a deep desire to drive change by helping others better understand the realities of living with mental health conditions.

That’s why I’m launching The Scream Project — not just to raise awareness (which many fantastic organisations already do), but to go one step further by raising real understanding.

Understanding how mental illness impacts daily life, relationships, work, and physical health.

Understanding that mental illness isn’t always visible, but it is always real.

And most importantly, understanding that despite the challenges, mental illness is not a barrier to creativity, achievement, or contribution — it can even be a strength.

Why This Lens?

I am asking for support to purchase a Canon RF 24-105mm F2.8L IS USM Z lens because it will allow me to bring this project to life in the way it deserves. This lens gives me the versatility to both capture subjects in their environment and to isolate moments that tell powerful, human stories.

Photography will be my voice. The lens will be my tool to create images that help people see what can’t always be seen — the lived experience of mental health struggles.

My Dream

The Scream Project has been my dream for over 5 years. With your support, I aim to host exhibitions, create impactful visual storytelling, and eventually take the project into the community and schools — because I believe we must change how the next generation understands mental health.

I also hope to gain the attention of local media, using these exhibitions as a platform to create wider conversations about mental health, especially with young people.

I firmly believe that the best people to support those with invisible illnesses are those of us who’ve walked the same path. I want to show that being ‘just okay’ isn’t enough — everyone deserves to live their best life, even if that path is harder or looks different to others.

How You Can Help

By supporting my GoFundMe, you won’t just be helping me get a camera lens.

You’ll be helping create a space where mental health isn’t hidden or misunderstood — but seen, heard, and respected.

Thank you for believing in me, and in the power of creativity to make a difference.

please note that the target amount also includes the cost of good quality prints and frames.
