If you know me, you know the best thing about me is my dog, Blue. Around 4:00 this morning, Blue woke up unable to sit or lay down. He was stumbling and falling over. I felt a little silly about rushing him to the emergency vet and anticipated being sent home with a quick fix and a large bill. Unfortunately, that isn't what happened. The vet told us that likely due to a genetic proneness seen in beagles, Blue probably has a slipped disk in his spine. Left untreated, Blue may never be able to walk again. Within the next 24 hours, Blue will (hopefully) be seen by a neurologist, have an MRI, and undergo surgery. With surgery, the vet told us that Blue's odds of a total recovery are excellent. I was approved for a $3,500 loan, but the vet estimated the cost of services to be around $7,000 or more. Before adopting Blue, I could never have imagined someone paying $7,000 for medical care for their pet. Now I can't imagine doing anything but. I hate that I am publicly posting on facebook asking for money, but I would hate being without my stick loving, agile buddy, Blue, a trillion times more. So, if any of you are able to spare a buck or two, I promise Blue will be eternally grateful and maybe I'll even be able to convince him to put his paws back to use and send you a thank-you note himself! If you aren't able to contribute financially, please keep my pup in your thoughts and prayers.
