A Mother and Son in Need

Hello everyone. My name’s Jesse. I’m coming to you today to ask for your help, as I have nowhere else to turn. My poor mother has fallen extremely ill, and her health has tragically been deteriorating.

She’s unable to care for herself, so I’m the one that cares for her. I am an only child so I have no brothers or sisters to share this burden with, and we have no other family members able to help. She is unable to work and is entirely reliant on me for assistance - both physically and financially. But she’s been in and out of the hospital and the emergency room three times within the past six months.

While she has not received any sort of terminal diagnosis and I am cautiously hopeful that she will recover one day, I am preparing myself for the worst. However the situation has taken a sharp financial toll on me as well. I’ve had to take FMLA unpaid leaves of absence, from my work, to care for her. With mounting hospital, ambulance, and medication bills - on top of the basics such as groceries, gas, utilities and the house payment I’ve been placed with my back against the wall.

I’ve applied for things like Social Security, SNAP benefits, Medicaid and medicare for her, but so far the only thing she’s been approved for is food stamps. A monthly stipend of $250.

Long story short, while I continue to vie for additional government aid for her, to provide her the assistance and care she needs, I come to you for help. Any little bit you can spare would be a godsend, and I hope and pray that God, karma, the fates, or any other forces working in this universe repay your kindness 100 fold. Thank you.
