Hi everyone,

I’m Nicola, and along with my husband Andy, our two daughters Emma and Bethany, Andy’s sister Claire and her husband Kris Ramsden, we’re taking on Total Warrior on 28th June to raise money for the incredible charity Candlelighters in memory of our friend’s little boy, Jack.

Jack Johnson tragically passed away aged 12 on 31st October 2024. He was brave, cheeky and full of life — a football-mad boy with the biggest smile and the kindest heart. He brought so much happiness to everyone around him and will always be deeply loved and forever missed.

The 28th June is also our 1st wedding anniversary. On our wedding day, we chose to raise money in support of Candlelighters, so it feels only right to take on this challenge exactly a year later and continue raising funds in Jack’s memory. Spending our first anniversary giving back to the charity that supported Jack and his family feels incredibly special and meaningful to us.

Throughout his illness, Candlelighters stood beside Jack and his family, offering constant care, compassion and practical support. They continue to support the family today, and we’ve seen first-hand just how much their help means.

Candlelighters supports families across Yorkshire who are facing childhood cancer — emotionally, financially and practically. They fund holidays, therapies and grants, provide specialist roles within hospitals, and invest in vital research into the causes of childhood cancer and potential new treatments. Their work helps families feel less alone during the most difficult journey of their lives.

With the incredible support of family, friends and our wider community, so much has already been raised in Jack’s memory — but we want to keep his legacy going and continue helping other families who need that same support.
