Help Little Leo Heal #LeoStrong

My name is Renee Mahoney and I am asking for donations to help alleviate financial burdens on my family during what has been the most difficult time of our lives.

 

On July 8th, 2021 we were blessed with the birth of our beautiful son Leo. What should have been our happiest day became tinged with fear when we realized that he was born with a large facial tumor that was not seen on any of his prenatal scans. His dad and I were overwhelmed with thoughts of what might be wrong, but soon focus shifted from his tumor to another medical issue. Pediatricians noticed that he had discoloration in his testicles and diagnosed testicular torsion; he was rushed to emergency surgery where he lost one testicle and had the other sewn in place to prevent it from also twisting.

 

 

Further imaging was completed on the facial mass but a diagnosis eluded his team of doctors. They decided that the best course of action would be to perform surgery that would remove the entire mass and send it for biopsy. The surgery was scheduled for September 14th, when Leo would be just over two months old.

 

 

 

While awaiting the surgery another blow was dealt to our family when Hurricane Ida came through and flooded our entire apartment complex. Our apartment became uninhabitable due to damage from the floodwaters and we were forced to relocate. My husband, Tim's, car was completely flooded, with waters reaching over the roof of the vehicle. As a service technician who travels all over the state, a reliable car is a necessity for Tim to be able to work.

 

 

 

 

Leo's surgery proceeded as scheduled. He appears to be recovering well and insurance will likely cover most of his medical costs. However, we are now facing the cost and stress of buying a new car, relocating to a new home and caring for our sweet baby as we await biopsy results. We are asking for help in alleviating some of the financial pressures we are facing so that we can focus on and devote our energies to helping our son heal.

If you are able to donate to or share this campaign with others who might be able to help, we would appreciate it more than we can say. All monies collected will go towards the purchase of a new car for Tim, any unexpected medical expenses from Leo's surgeries and follow up appointments and other moving expenses and debts that are a source of stress.
