Veterinary Expenses for Emmy
Donation protected
Some loved ones have suggested we set up a way that others could contribute towards the medical expenses which Emmy, our golden retriever puppy, is requiring.
Emmy is 4 months old. Two weeks ago she appeared perfectly healthy, but then she became lethargic and stopped eating and drinking. She became very weak and shaky in her legs, and then unable to stand or even adjust her position on her own. She developed a fever along with swollen, painful joints. She's been diagnosed with a relatively rare bone disease called Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy or HOD. It's a painful auto-inflammatory disease which can occur in fast-growing puppies of larger breeds. It restricts the blood flow to part of the bones near the joints.
As you can imagine this has been a very difficult time for her and our family, as she's needed a plethora of tests and a variety of medications. She's needed to be hospitalized at the vet clinic for some days now and on IV to keep her hydrated and nourished while they try to find the right drugs to help her. The clinic has been very kind and clearly worked hard on her behalf, for which we're grateful.
We sadly wish now that we'd pursued pet insurance for her, as the cost of this treatment is mounting quickly, but we hadn't imagined this sort of scenario for her at such a young age. If you'd like to give to help us continue treating little Emmy, your gift would be gratefully received. Thank you, friends
