Hi, my name is Danielle. I am a full-time first generation student putting myself through college and working two part-time jobs and selling artwork to support myself.

As many of you know I’ve had my pet bunny Linus since May 24, 2014 when he was eight weeks old. He’s eleven and a half now. He is the sweetest little guy and truly been there for me through everything. He’s my best little buddy and many of you have been with me over the years since I got home to see him grow up.

More recently in his old age, he’s developed some expected health issues like arthritis and some not so expected ones. He’s usually a pretty clean bill of health but in the last two weeks I’ve had to take him to the Pet ER due to a weird infection on his cheeks that cropped up in a day’s time that turned out to be an overgrowth of normal flora. Unfortunately the Pet ER insisted on an anaerobic culture for an aerobic infection which alone cost $272. They also gave him ineffective treatment (including a dose of pain medication far too high for rabbits according to my primary vet) that he received for nearly a week until I was able to get him in to see his primary. These appointments combined were astronomical in price for me with my current circumstances—well over $1,000.

After his scheduled appt, he had six more medications to take. The week following (last week) he started showing signs of gastrointestinal stasis which can be quickly fatal in rabbits due to their sensitive digestion. Fortunately that worked itself out and I bought more medications from the vet to keep on-hand. He seemed to be doing much better and was back to his old self.

I woke up this morning at 3AM to continue homework, and struggled to go back to sleep after. Around 5:30 I noticed he was making a lot of noise so I checked on him. His eyes are constantly flicking back and forth and he is slowly turning in a tight circle and can’t seem to get comfortable. I don’t know if he’s got an ear infection (he’d had ear drops before but stopped them per the prescription), vertigo, some sort of other illness or a stroke.

His vet opens in half an hour and I am not sure what will be said. I am preparing (as much as I can) for the possibility of end of life things for him just in case.

I am just asking for some assistance to pay off the credit card I had to put his vet bill on, and to pay for any upcoming charges as well as to cover for missed work time.

This is not easy to ask, but I truly appreciate every cent and share that comes my way.
