Veterinary Bills for Two Heavenly Therapy Horses

Unbridled Horse Therapy is a close-knit tribe with seven big-hearted, saintly equines who have devoted their time to providing fun and therapeutic riding sessions to individuals of all abilities. Horses have an incredible ability to connect to humans on a soulful level, which allows for emotional and physical healing.

As some may have seen in the local news article, the Denton county fire department was called out to the UHT barn on Sunday morning in response to a call regarding a horse stuck in the mud. That horse was our sweet Bella. Bella was a big, beautiful 22-year-old Belgian draft horse who was brand new to the Unbridled family. Though the long rescue efforts of the fire department, veterinarians, staff, and volunteers were initially successful, Bella was unable to return to her feet. Because of her large size and unknown injury to her legs, the heartbreaking decision was made to end her suffering. As a result of that enormous effort, veterinary bills will pile up. However, that is not where this story and plea for help begins

Bella was brought into the Unbridled family, not only because we needed a larger horse for older clients, but because we tragically lost another horse in May. Johnny Cash was our 16-year-old, blue-eyed paint horse who connected more on an emotional level with our friends. As opposed to helping strengthen core muscles, aiding with posture, and play games on horseback, Johnny Cash was as beneficial as a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream on a cloudy day. Helping individuals work through emotional hurdles while being brushed and fed apples was his forte. In May, Johnny Cash was rushed to the animal hospital after displaying signs of colic. Tragically, he passed away just a couple days later. Not only was the organization left devastated by the loss, those veterinary bills were also another hit.

All of the staff, volunteers, and horses of Unbridled Horse Therapy are graciously asking our community to help our amazing organization rebuild in the wake of these devastating losses. Any amount would be greatly appreciated! If we can pay off these veterinary bills, the remainder that is donated will go to the organization in another capacity, such as funding another member to add to our herd in order to continue to support and provide services to our community!
