Dear donors,
My name is Daniel Montenegro, and it's my pleasure to be speaking with you all. I am a Phoenix, AZ-based film director and writer. I am also a veteran of the United States Army. In 2010 I was deployed to Iraq, in a combat job, and was a part of Operation Enduring Freedom, serving with the 10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum, New York. Over the last several years I was fortunate enough to attend college, earning my BS in film production with a concentration in directing. Throughout the last few years,, I've dedicated as much time as humanly possible to becoming the best narrative and visual storyteller I can be. I've had a chance to study under many collegiate and industry professionals, including Christopher Nolan and Damien Chazelle.
I need your help in funding our film Expiration Term of Service. This film centers around our protagonist Wesley Kent. This was-stricken veteran finds himself not only having to fight off his trauma in the real world but also in spiritual realms.
We need you to champion a film, that myself and my production team believes will shed light on veterans who've struggled, and continue to struggle with their transition back into civilian life. After serving my country, and fulfilling, my obligational contract, I was honorably discharged back in 2012. Soon after my separation from service, I found myself at a loss, almost as if something had been taken from me, and I didn't know how, or where to search for answers. Family members, friends, and colleagues would go on to tell me how I changed, from the once charismatic loving, fun individual they once knew, to someone they could not recognize. This was polarizing to me at the time, as my blindness to how I lived was a complete mystery to me. Depression, anger, and addiction would soon consume my being, causing more rifts and separation between myself, my loved ones, and my career.
To say I know what I'm talking about when it comes to delivering this film is an understatement. I don't say this out of a place of ego, but rather from a place of many years of heartache, followed by perseverance. Help me shed light for veterans all around the world, who feel disconnected from everything they once knew, and loved, and remind them, that help, love, and programs are out there, ready to aid them in their transition back home.
I believe in this film, as much as I believe that you're going to help out. We have three more shoot days to complete our project. As you'll note from our video, we've already shot a few pages from our script. The trailer provided is just a quick teaser for your viewing pleasure.
Warm regards,
Daniel Montenegro
