On Friday 23rd January after walking their dogs, Wayne and his mam Trish Dunn returned home to their worst nightmare. They could hear smoke alarms going off and smoke filler their home. The fire brigade were quickly called and managed to get the fire under control fairly quickly. It has however left them all unable to stay at their home and Wayne’s room has been pretty much destroyed. The house is damaged due to smoke travelling through the house (charring) and water damage from the quick response to getting the fire put out.
Wayne has been left with little clothing, (mostly smoke/fire damaged) and lost a large number of electrical items.
With the hope that the insurance will cover things it won’t cover everything and in the interim they need to replace day to day stuff. Like replacing clothes.
We are appealing to the hockey world to help Wayne and his mam to get back on their feet.
It maybe quite some time until they are able to return to their home and currently are staying with family members.
They are both very grateful that no one was hurt but are left with the aftermath and devastation that the fire caused.
If you are able to help them in any way they will be very grateful. Permission has been asked before from Wayne and Trish.
Some of you will remember Wayne from his hockey days. A lot of you will know him now as Ethan and Heidi Dunn’s dad.
Thank you.
