Veteran, Single Mom & Student in Need of a Lifeline
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Hannah Strickland. I’m a 24-year-old single mom to three amazing little boys, an Air Force veteran, and a full-time college student working toward my bachelor’s degree in Social Work. My dream is to support and advocate for others—especially veterans and families in crisis—but right now, I’m the one in need of support.
I live states away from any family, and I recently lost my job due to complications from my service-connected disability. I’m currently disabled through the VA and actively fighting a mistake that they made on it. I am working all the programs I can to get myself into a job that my disability will not interfere with and I am managing to move money around to keep my bills paid.
As if that wasn’t enough, my car—the only one we have—broke down again just four days before my 25th birthday. It’s already had major issues (including the brakes going out), but I still owe more on it than it’s worth, so trading it in isn’t an option. Without a working vehicle, I can’t get to job interviews, school, or take my kids to their appointments.
I’m doing everything I can to stay strong for my boys and keep moving forward with school and rebuilding our lives, but right now we’re stuck. I hate asking for help and it makes me sick to do so but I can no longer do this alone. It’s too much for me and the stress is worsening my disabilities (temporarily). I’m asking for help to repair or replace our car so I can keep showing up—for my kids, for my future, and eventually, for the people I hope to serve through my career.
Any amount helps, and even just sharing this means the world to us. Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and kindness.
With love and gratitude,
Hannah Strickland
