Hello my name is Lindsey and I am starting this fundraiser for my fiancé Trevor. We are at a loss on what to do and this is a last ditched effort to find support from a caring community after all other programs claiming to provide assistance have failed us.
A little back story Trevor is a Veteran, serving as a US Army Infantry man fighting on the front lines during the Iraq war. By the grace of god he came home to us physically intact but suffered severe PTSD from all he witnessed overseas. Despite this he made his way in the civilian world by managing a small company and succeeding in his new work role. He excelled in leadership and making the small business run as efficiently as possible a great achievement he is very proud of. This enabled him to purchase a house and support his family so his 5 year old son could have all the things he did not have growing up. All these achievements are now in jeopardy because of unforeseen health complications.
Fast Forward to current events after many ER trips and doctors fumbling around with what could be causing some of his symptoms, Trevor was finally diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure at age 36. We recently spent 10 days in the hospital for this condition celebrating Christmas from his hospital bed. It has been heavy on my heart watching him struggle through the day and I do my very best to help him through the every day tasks. I even had to step away from my own career path so that I can be home to assist him which I do not mind doing but has been a financial strain for us. Trevor is also on medical leave from work for an unknown length of time and is unable to bring in any income. We are struggling to survive off of his small disability check every month.
Because of his condition he is constantly fatigued he has trouble doing daily tasks like walking up the stairs, cooking, cleaning, lifting anything heavy and more. This has been a huge blow to him and has rightly been very upsetting since he is so used to being active and strong. The doctors have been a nightmare and every one we see seems to conflict something another doctor has said. They are trying to manage his symptoms right now with medication but can not get a dose right at the moment so the medication is only slightly helping. Several Cardiologists have already told us that he will for sure need a heart valve replacement in the near future but he is on the boarder of moderate and sever congestive heart failure so they wanted to try medication first to see how long they can prolong doing surgery.
*Edit Update*
He is now going to be scheduled for surgery within the next couple months. We will know more information the beginning of March but the need for surgery has become a priority. I’ll update this as we all take this journey together.
Our biggest financial issue we are facing is that one of these ER visits before
we had a diagnosis came with a bill so large we have been unable to pay it. We have tried to pay this but the collections company is unwilling to help make a payment plan or take payment from a credit card. He doesn’t have any family to help since his mom died back in 2018. This situation is really putting us in danger of losing our home on top of all we are struggling to get through right now with the fight to get him good medical care.
I am begging the community for any assistance that they can offer, anything at all could make a big difference for us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
I wish you the best and hope you stay in good health!
God bless you!
