Hi, my name is Teresa and I am fundraising for my sister Star Williams. Star, a US Navy Veteran, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in late January 2022. Doctors informed us she had 3 cancer tumors in her left breast and 2 cancerous lymph nodes under her left arm. She also has small tumors in her right breast but they are not cancerous. The doctors said the cancer was an aggressive form and treatment started in early February 2022. Her regimen includes 24 weeks of chemo, double mastectomy, 6 weeks of radiation and 6 weeks of immunotherapy. Therefore it will be the beginning of 2023 before she can work as she did prior to her cancer diagnosis. Star is a self-employed loctician/hair braider and a single mom with 2 teenage kids and this illness has caused her financial hardship. She was able to persevere through the 1st 12 weeks of chemo and still maintain some of her clients, but the treatment has gotten stronger and is taking a toll on her. SEVERE neuropathy has been a side effect from the beginning and is still ongoing, making it difficult for her to use her hand and stand on her feet. Extreme nausea, relentless fatigue and daily pain complicate things even more. I'm sure we all have been touched by cancer in some way (directly or indirectly) and know the ugliness of this disease. The funds from this gofundme will help Star greatly, allowing her body to rest and heal to beat this cancer. My sister has been a warrior throughout this entire process. I tell her how strong she is and how I admire her strength. From week 1 of her treatment, Star has posted funny and uplifting Tik Tok videos on her FB and Instagram page every Wednesday (except for 1 week b/c she was too sick) to encourage others to fight and never give up no matter what challenges they're facing.
