My brother Jesse and sister-in-law Kaitlyn have given so much to this country. Jesse served on the front lines in Afghanistan as a Marine. After returning, he has served the state of New York by becoming a police officer. Most recently, he accepted a position with the Westchester Country PD, where he is again fighting on the front lines -- this time against Covid-19 in one of the hardest hit areas in this country. Kaitlyn is an educator in New York, mother to the sweetest three-year old, Madison, and mother of baby #2 on the way.
The constant in their lives over the last several years has been their sweet, loyal and young (6 years old) German Shepherd named Gunner. Gunner is playful and extremely well trained. But more than that, he is a companion and best friend to my brother, a protector to Kaitlyn and Maddie when Jesse is working nights, and a loving kind soul to everyone who meets him.
Unfortunately, Gunner became very ill this week and has been diagnosed with a very serious infection. It is still not clear whether this sweet pup will make it. But without hesitation Jesse and Kaitlyn decided to give him whatever care he needs to save his life. This is their first baby. And Maddie's best friend.
That care, however, has come at an enormous and unexpected price, especially during this time of financial upheaval for us all. We know there are so many worthy causes in this unprecedented time. We humbly ask for any donation you might be able to make to give Gunner access to the best care possible (including a stay in the ICU to help him fight the infection) and to ease the large financial and emotional burden on an awesome couple that has been so selfless and has dedicated so much to others.
