Veteran Aids Afghan Friend's U.S. Journey

My name is Patrick Wargo and I am a U.S. Navy veteran that worked as a contractor for the Depart of Defense in Afghanistan from 2015 until September 2021 when the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, threatening the livelihood of our partners for their roles in assisting the United States.

I had the honor of training, advising, assisting, and mentoring members of the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command and Commandos in support of joint operations between the United States and Afghan military forces.

During my time as a Anti-Terrorism & Force Protection Mentor to Major Massoud Rahmani at Camp Morehead / Camp Commando in the Kabul region was an extremely important time. As many veterans can attest, strong bonds and brotherhood are built from the exponential amounts of time spent together. Aside from the hard work together the hospitality received while so far away from our loved ones and homes along with many shared meals, holidays, laughs, achievements, lead to unforgettable memories that I will carry for the rest of my life thanks to Massoud.

My dear friend and his family were thrust into hiding and constant relocation to avoid Taliban capture, which would lead to cruel and barbaric treatment, imprisonment, or worse. I myself along with many others spent countless hours trying to coordinate and facilitate bringing this family to the safety they deserve. After years of waiting and hoping our prayers have finally been answered and they have recently arrived safely to the Unites States.

I am asking for any help whether through donations, networking, resources, information, advise, or simply sharing this post with others as I work to help this family begin their new life from scratch here in our country. I wholeheartedly know that if the roles were reversed that I could count on Massoud and I am committed to helping him and his family. All donations go directly to his family for
