Vet Funds for Francis

This sweet boy is "Francis," hit by a car on Easter Sunday. We were on our way to my parents' home in South Carolina when we saw it happen. We pulled over to help, but he ran into the woods, frightened and in severe pain.
My husband, daughter, and I searched for over an hour and finally found the little guy with a severely broken leg and a number of wicked abrasions from the road. Even before we made it out of the woods, we named him after St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.
The emergency vet stabilized Francis and relieved his pain with meds, and we found a local vet the next day to operate on him. His femur was broken and pulled completely out of his hip socket.
He was also severely malnourished, covered in ticks and fleas, and had hookworms, heartworms, and erlichiosis (a tick-borne infection). We're already solving some of those problems, but others are awaiting medical treatment.
The vet said Francis is about two years old, but I don't think he's ever had a family, judging by his awful condition. The happy news, though, is that once he fully recovers (my parents are fostering him), we've found
him a forever home with my mom's parish priest.
We'd named the little guy after St. Francis, not thinking about the fact that the pope is named Francis, too. And now he'll be living at a church with a special new daddy......some pretty good company he's keeping!
This fellow is a brave little fighter; he has come such a long way in only a week. However, his vet bills are pretty daunting. We've paid $2047.00 thus far (thank goodness for that credit card!) and the estimate for treatment remaining is about $1400.00.
We'd like to have our Francis in tip-top shape before he goes to live at the rectory. If there is any donation you can make (no amount is too small) to help with his vet bills, we'd be very grateful. Thank you!
