Hi everyone,
This is something I never expected to write, but sometimes life throws us curveballs. Recently, I was diagnosed with melanoma and have begun the process of treatment and follow-up care.
While I’m incredibly grateful that it was caught and that I have access to medical care, the appointments, procedures, and ongoing monitoring still come with costs that add up quickly. Recently, I’ve also had a few other health screenings that came back with abnormal results, including a mammogram, and I’ll need additional testing to better understand what’s going on. These tests will likely add to the medical expenses in the coming months.
As many of you know, I work as a vet tech. I truly love what I do and feel lucky to spend my days helping animals and the people who love them. Animals have always been my passion, and I’m grateful to be part of a community that values those who dedicate their lives to caring for them. Unfortunately, veterinary medicine isn’t known for high salaries, and even relatively modest medical bills can become difficult to manage. On top of that, I’ve had to take time off work for appointments and procedures, and I’ve already used up most of the limited paid time off I have.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help cover the out-of-pocket expenses related to my melanoma diagnosis and other necessary medical tests. Funds will go toward dermatology visits, biopsy and surgical costs, ongoing melanoma monitoring, and additional health screenings as recommended by my doctors. Since I’m almost out of paid time off, some of the funds will help cover essential day-to-day expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries while I focus on recovery.
Any support would mean so much and would help relieve some of the financial stress while I focus on my health and recovery. If you’re able to donate, I’m deeply grateful for any amount. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would also make a huge difference. Even small contributions and shares help more than you might realize, and I truly appreciate every bit of support.
If the amount raised ends up exceeding my expenses, any additional funds will be donated to the Melanoma Research Foundation to support research, education, and prevention.
This experience has also reminded me how important regular skin checks are, and I hope sharing my story encourages others to get suspicious spots checked early.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
