For years I have dedicated myself to taking care of pets with special needs. My greatest fulfillment was giving pet parents peace of mind that their beloved fur babies would be taken care of while they’re away.
When I started my journey, I believed my vet tech skills would be most useful at the comfort of people’s homes, and I wasn’t wrong. Many pet parents struggled with giving certain treatments to their fur babies with no guidance whatsoever. Over the course of four years, my business grew and I gained so much support. I cannot be more thankful for this journey. After all, I am at my happiest when I’m around animals.
Unfortunately, overtime my vitality started to leave me. I lost a great amount of weight in a few months, and stopped being able to perform basic tasks such as walking, driving, or dressing myself. Several tests and scans later, my biggest challenge showed its face: cancer. It’s invaded my bones and several tissues in my body. This has been hard to believe, as my father had just passed away last year from metastatic cancer.
Due to my condition, I had to stop operations at Vet Tech Ferni indefinitely, which broke my heart. Currently, I am in my hometown being taken care of by my family, but bills are adding up. Though it has never been my style to ask for monetary help, I feel compelled to help my family somehow, while I still have some cognition left.
Whether you had your fur babies taken care of by me in the past, or know someone who has, I would really appreciate your support. Anything helps, even prayers or words of encouragement. I refuse to believe this is the end and will continue fighting. I just can’t do it on my own this time.
With love,
Fernie
